New Directions in Psychology Research

New Directions in Psychological Research is a curated seminar series that opens up space for emerging, critical, and inquisitive areas of study in psychology research that are often less visible. The series aims to bring psychology students, researchers, and academics together to engage in discussions beyond the discipline's established topics and approaches; and to collectively rethink the questions, methods, and assumptions upon which psychological research is built.

Seminars may include research in areas such as critical psychology, feminist psychology, cultural and political psychology, relations with non-human animals, methodological debates in psychology, digital culture, the body, emotion, identity, normality, pathology, care, ethics, and social inequalities. Topics are determined in line with current developments in psychology and the new discussion opportunities offered by different research areas.

The series prioritizes showcasing the work of researchers, particularly those pursuing doctoral studies or who have recently completed their doctorates. However, researchers at different career stages whose work aligns with the series' approach may also be invited. The aim is not merely to organize seminars that convey information on specific topics, but to foster new academic connections and discussions around emerging research areas.

Seminars may be held in Turkish or English, online or in person, depending on the invited speakers' areas of expertise and event schedule. Instead of adhering to a fixed schedule, new events are organized as intellectually strong studies aligned with the series' approach are identified.
